Extinguishers

Shipman's Fire Equipment has provided fire extinguishers and extinguisher service for over 50 years. With (5) qualified technicians on the road daily and (4) in house maintaining and testing your extinguishers we are prepared to meet your extinguisher needs from the point of purchase, installation, inspection, and maintenance.

NFPA and DOT require annual service, periodic maintenance and testing. Our relationship with you and your company begins when we are selected to review your site for compliance with the State Fire Safety Code. Each year fire extinguishers need to be inspected to make sure they operate effectively. The annual maintenance includes checking for damage, broken seals, correct cylinder pressure, hydrostatic testing and updated tags for verification of compliance yearly. Also during our review, Shipman's checks exit lights, signs and any other concerns to keep you in compliance with the State Fire / Safety codes. Shipman's maintains all your records and you are notified that your yearly inspection is due and an appointment will be made

Amerex manufactures a wide variety of hand portable and wheeled fire extinguishers, both "compliance" (code required) and "specialty" types. "Specialty" type extinguishers are intended for use on particular types of hazards, so careful attention should be made to locating them in close proximity to the specific hazard they are meant to protect. It is natural for a person to use the extinguisher located nearest to a fire. The most current issue of NFPA-10 and local codes should be consulted for minimum recommended fire extinguisher types, placement and travel distances. Shipman's Fire Equipment is professionally qualified and equipped to help you evaluate and implement these recommendations.
